Hypoxic Training Chambers

The newest rage at elite gyms: hypoxic training chambers, which simulate air found at high altitudes. The thinking is, if you can artificially acclimate your body to a higher elevation, you’ll increase your endurance at sea level.

However, it seems that simulated high-altitude training is a bust. German researchers found no performance enhancement after analyzing 20 athletes who followed a 15-day schedule of training and hypoxic treatment. [source: Men's Health]
