How to Eat Healthy
There are many diet books describing how to eat healthy. Is this why we often associate healthy eating habits with dieting? Maybe this is one of the reasons, but what if you do not need to diet?
Can you eat healthy without dieting? Absolutely! I think people know how to eat healthy. How do I know? People tell me they do. I have heard many times people say “I know how to eat healthy, but…”
But what? Well, nobody wants to say this – so I will - if you promise me to keep this hush-hush. You never heard this from me, okay?
For the most part, raw vegetables do not have a great taste.
Oh my god, what have I done? Okay - all drama aside - I like raw or steamed vegetables, and I eat them regularly, but many people do not.
Knowing how to eat healthy is one thing, but inquiring minds want to know if I have any tricks up my sleeve to eat more vegetables.
Sure, some raw vegetables are more nutritious than cooked ones. However, this is not always the case. Some nutrients become active when subjected to heat. In any case, eating cooked vegetables is better than not eating any vegetables at all.
When it comes to cooking vegetables, you have a number of choices: boiling, steaming, or stir-frying. Boiled vegetables can still have a bland taste, and stir-frying could be messy. So what is the solution?
Wash your favorite veggies first. Cut them up and place them on a roasting pan. Actually, take all kinds of vegetables, because this method of cooking makes them all taste great. Drizzle over them with canola or olive oil and put them in the oven.
Yes, I am talking about roasting. I do not know anyone who does not like roasted veggies. I am sure there are people out there who do not - but the roasting process gives veggies so much flavor – once you try it – they are hard to resist.
