This may be a dumb question, but how many calories am I suppose to eat each day? Thanks, Jay. [via Ask Questions]
It’s not dumb at all. According to a number of surveys, many people have no clue … and many can’t event hazard a guess. In addition, those who guess, over 70 percent usually guess wrong.
There’s a good reason for that. How many calories you should eat depends on your age, weight-loss goals (if you have any), your activity level, and gender.
Most people require somewhere between 1,600 and 2,800 calories a day. To give you a very rough estimate, a moderately active 40-year-old and a 20-year-old couch potato, need approximately 2,000 calories a day.
