How Long Should a Baby Sleep?

How long should a baby sleep? What are the recommended total hours of sleep for infants, toddles, preschoolers, etc? Here is what you need to know:

Infants (2-12 mos.) – 14 to 15 hours.

Toddlers (12 mos. To 3 years) – 12 to 14 hours.

Preschoolers (age 3-6) – 11 to 13 hours.

School-aged (age 6-12) – 10 to 11 hours.

Adolescents (age 12-18) – 8.5 to 9.5 hours.

It is extremely important for babies and kids to get enough sleep. Oh, and if you think that adults can skimp on sleep, think again, studies show that getting enough sleep for adults (at least 8 hours) is also very important.
