How Can I Lose Weight?
According to the American Dietetic Association, dieting has been called “The Great American Pastime.” For many people, it is a struggle. And while “How can I lose weight?” might be a basic question, it is a reoccurring one.
Regardless of whatever you may have heard, the only proven way to lose weight is to consistently eat fewer calories than your body needs and uses.
You can do this by reducing energy intake (food), by increasing energy output (physical activity), or preferably by a combination of both.
One pound of stored fat contains about 3,500 calories. So to lose a pound of fat a week, you should cut back by 500 calories a day or burn up those 500 calories by increasing physical activity.
