Hilary Duff: Diet
Hilary Duff’s Diet Details Hilary Duff has conquered unhealthy eating behaviors, both the junk-food habit of her teen years (”I used to eat chicken fingers, french fries and ice cream all the time”) and the too-strict regimen of two years ago (”I would beat myself up if I had some fat”).
Now, instead of counting fat grams or calories, she relies on a hearty helping of common sense: lots of greens, lean protein and fresh fruit. It also helps that Mom only lives a few doors down from the L.A. home Hilary shares with Haylie.
“She’s such a good cook, and she teaches me ways to have lots of flavor but it’s still good for you,” she says. A current fave: root vegetables brushed with olive oil and herbs. And Duff still allows herself to indulge. “If I want dessert, then I won’t have bread with dinner,” she says. “It’s a trade-off.”
Hillary Duff’s Diet
Breakfast A bowl of Kashi cereal with 2 percent milk (or an egg-white omelet with Feta cheese) and a latte made with 2 percent milk – 292 calories.
Lunch Grilled-chicken Caesar salad with one tablespoon of reduced-fat dressing (or grilled ahi tuna salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing) – 330 calories.
Dinner Tuna steak, grilled vegetables and couscous. (Another fave? Sushi. “I usually eat it when I go out to dinner!”) – 316 calories.
Snack A handful of mixed nuts (or an apple and Brie cheese). And sometimes? Chips and salsa – 170 calories. [via]

Um, that’s about 1100 calories…that’s starving. Certainly not healthy and not to be emulated. She’s need to add two more meals!

She exercises 5 days a week for an hour a day as well. That’s insane! She needs to bulk up her breakfast and lunch.

I wouldn’t worry guys. To be honest with you, the calories that they’re printing aren’t the correct ones.
A SKIM MILK latte is 120 ish calories. An a bowl of cereal is about 120 dry, without milk.

If you read the magazine, this is not her day to day diet– it’s a meal plan sample to give you an idea of what to eat.

That is not starving, that’s about what I eat though I probably eat more snacks than her.

My father exercises for an hour 7 days a week to keep healthy. It’s a good thing.

exercising for 4 days a week — or 7 days a week — can be wonderful and healthy, depending upon the attitude of the person doing it.
BUT, eating an average of 1100 calories a day is not healthy. the amount of calories one takes in should be based on his/her resting metabolic rate (RMR) and amount of daily physical activity. i am an average 27-y-o female. my RMR is 1410 (that means that i burn 1410 calories per day when my body is at rest). add exercise, and i’m burning even more. if i’m going to eat enough to sustain my body’s needs, it’s going to have to be more than 1410 calories in a day. if i’m overweight and want to lose some weight, then i should cut back my caloric intake in a balanced way and make sure to exercise regularly.
the problem with an 1100-calorie diet is that it’s not sustainable. many of us have had those moments when we break our diets and then go on an all-out binge, vowing to pick back up tomorrow. or we go on a diet, lose lots of weight really quickly, and then slowly gain it back to the point where we need to begin again. it’s a mixture of psychological and physiological factors which cause this to happen. the best place i’ve found to be is to have a truly balanced diet and not deprive myself of the calories my body needs.

p.s.
i should mention that having the kind of healthy, balanced diet i mentioned above is not going to get you a hilary duff body. that’s not achievable for most women on a healthy, balanced diet. you’d have to starve yourself and be diligent about exercise.
it has taken me years to arrive at a place where i realize i’d rather define the boundaries of femininity and beauty for myself rather than sacrifice my health, happiness and pleasure to fit into the cultural standard.

Thats not starving. A lot of people just would feel like they are cuz they waste their lives away eating 5000 calories of ice cream and candy bars. And why the hell would you need to add TWO more meals to your day. Thats just being a fatty. All you need it breakfast, lunch, And dinner, and you dont even need a snack. Its optional. Plus its not like its a diet consisting of tea and wheat thins. Its healthy food.

In the magazine that diet plan originaly came from, it says this is the base of Hilary’s diet. She has said in many interviews that within the past year her cheating moments have become daily but she still eats healthy.
In 2005 it was completely obvious that Hilary wasn’t eating correctly and it was effecting her body and mood a lot. Hilary now admits “I wasn’t eating a balanced diet, and I did get too thin.” Also, her face was probably the worst place she lost weight in…but it looked more sunk in due to her capped teeth(thank god their smaller now!)
Within the past year Hilary has gained a lot of weight. I’ve noticed her arms and legs are more chubby. Now, she looks amazing with her killer abs in ‘Shape’ magazine and I’m sure dancing every night on her Dignity world tour helps her toned/curvy body.
Great job Hil!

breakfast lunch and dinner is not enough to sustain proper health and a good figure. hilary is short so her weight from earlier years had to be adjusted. she looks good now and the meal base plan is healthy enough. lots of lean protein, fresh fruit and vegs, nuts and milk is good for any healthy diet however we are actually supposed to eat about 6 times a day. SMALLER meals of course and with that including snacks. small meal items 6 times a day, regular exercise (every other day is good enough is you go hardcore on the days you exercise because you need to let your muscles rest) and SLEEP (7-8hrs at LEAST) will keep you living til youre 90 (IF you dont smoke or drink regularly!) take my advice, im a retired fitness trainer of 93 years old
take care and stay healthy!

This isn’t her full diet people!
She’s just giving an idea of some of the things she might eat.
Common sense. Please use it.

1200 calories is said to be the lowest a women should eat to lose weight at a healthy pace (1-2 lbs per week). You guys have to remember she is in the public eye, and eating 1100 calories isn’t bad. She will be lacking certain nutrients, especially since she has cut down on the grains she eats, her liver will certainly have to work harder with those missing carbs. Also, her workouts are not ‘intense’ workouts, they are moderate, and although she appears to be ‘really skinny’ she is at a healthy weight for her height.
And like a few people have said before, this is not her full diet and also the calorie counts they have given are not accurate.

well, i think this is a girl discussion but im going to intervene…im 6′0 200 pounds but im all muscle and i eat the shitty most carbed up food you can find and im still perfectly tone….i only exercise a couple hours each day doing some really basic stuff, and there is nothing wrong with hilary’s diet its just she is a celebrity and if your not fit you get made a joke by the fag paparazzi…so i don’t blame her for not eating anything…she’s a great girl and i support her. and to those who said she is skinny, she isnt. she has the avarage sized body except its tone instead of just alittle fit from not eating any carbs. personally id choose her over a “skinny” model who considers herself hot cause she has no stomach.

that’s not starving. i eat less than that. i eat 2 meals a day. and exercise 3 days a week for half an hour. ADDING 2 MEALS? ARE YOU SERIOUS????? I think that’s MORE than enough.
