Help Me Lose Weight
Labeling Foods: You have a list of “good” and “bad” foods or use words such as “always” or “never.” This black-and-white attitude makes it difficult to stick with a meal plan, causes deprivation, and leads to bingeing, all of which does not help you lose weight.
Solution: Revel in small successes, such as increasing daily exercise by 10 minutes. Do not let one slip lead to a full-blown relapse. If you blow your diet today, just be sure to get back on track tomorrow.
Eating mindlessly clearly does not help you lose weight. Nibbling off a friend’s plate, eating handfuls of crackers, or tasting food while cooking undermines the best intentions. Each mindless nibble averages 25 calories. Four mindless bites a day and you will slowly but surely gain weight.
Solution: Keep a food journal, write down everything you eat, and become aware of your eating patterns. You will learn to be more mindful of every bite.
