Healthy Heart Diet
If you stuck with a low-carb diet past the “all-bacon” misconception, you learned you could live without cookies, pretzels, and white bread.
And that’s good, even if you didn’t lose any weight, a new study shows.
After 3 weeks of eating just 26% of total calories from carbs, 47 overweight men slashed their risk of heart attack and stroke, in an Oakland Research Institute study.
Average triglyceride levels were 43% lower, and the ratio of total cholesterol to “good” HDL was 12% less, compared with 49 others eating closer to the average American carb intake – 54% of calories. [source: Prevention]
