Grapefruit Burns Fat
Continued from Lift Heavy, Bulk Up?
Claim: Eat grapefruit before a meal to burn fat. We all love a quick fix, but there’s no science to back this up. Any registered dietician will tell you that grapefruits don’t have any magical fat burning powers, but they are filled with fiber and vitamin C.
So you’re filling up on something healthy and less likely to overindulge in the less healthy foods that follow.
Claim: You’ll catch a cold if you go outside with wet locks. A cold is a virus so you have to be near someone who has the virus in order to get it. Dr. Bauer says it’s unlikely for one to lead to the other, “although you might get chilled and that might give your body some stress and stress decreases immune function.”
Claim: Hair and nails grow faster in the summer. Salons seem more crowded in the summer. Mzia Shiman of OC 61 Salon in NYC explains that “both hair and nails are formed by the same process and this process happens at an accelerated speed in warm and humid weather.” So don’t worry about chopping it off because it’ll be growing back in no time.

I don't buy into magical claims about this or that food either, although I definitely buy into the health benefits of whole food vs processed, dead food...the way I feel based on what I eat tells me that!
As far as grapefruit goes, I just love it, it's one of my fav fruits today, and about a year ago I thought I didn't like it...just shows how your tastes can change, especially when you're eating clean.
