Gnu Foods

If you have been taking care of your body by following a balanced diet and have been reading iFitandHealthy for a while, you are well aware of the fact that I do not usually recommend any diet aids or supplements.
While it seems clear that it is best if most of our nutrients intake comes from balanced meals, there is no denying that there is nothing wrong with supplementing your diet with high-quality bars, which may provide some advantages.
The first is convenience. Snatching a bar on your way out the door takes seconds and is painless, as long as you do not leave a half-eaten bar under the seat of your car for a few weeks – talk about a biology experiment gone wrong.
The second advantage. If you are pressed for time and thinking about grabbing a fast food meal, in this situation a high-quality bar is a healthier alternative.
Enter Gnu Foods Flavor and Fiber Bars.
What makes Gnu Foods Fiber Bars special? They are made from quality organic ingredients, no fillers, no cheap substitutions, none of that nasty stuff you see in so many other bars. Oh, and no trans fat and high fructose corn syrup.
Each bar contains almost 50 percent of your daily fiber needs, 12 grams of fiber in each bar to be precise, which is a lot. I like that they use a blend of fibers – 9 grams of soluble fiber and 3 grams of insoluble fiber – and not just one type of fiber. Most bars just use one type of fiber, which is not ideal.
Do Gnu Foods Fiber Bars contain any added vitamins? No, they do not, thank God, or maybe we should thank Gnu Foods for that. When I see a new bar, this is the first thing I check. If a bar contains added vitamins, I do not even look at anything else.
How many flavors do Gnu Foods offer? The bars come in five flavors: Banana Walnut, Cinnamon Raisin, Chocolate Brownie, Orange Cranberry, and Peanut Butter.
Until now, my personal favorite has been the Orange Cranberry bar and…it will remain my favorite, but the new Peanut Butter flavor is up there in the flavor department, it is very tasty.
What would I change in the Gnu Foods Fiber Bars? The bars are sweetened with fruit juice, but I think Erythritol or some other natural sugar substitute would be a better option.
