Garlic Supplements: Blood Pressure

Is there a connection between garlic supplements and blood pressure? Some studies seem to suggest that taking garlic supplements can help lower blood pressure. That said, if you have been reading this blog long enough, you probably already know how I feel about taking supplements, and garlic supplements is no exception.
I think it is almost always better to eat a balanced diet instead of taking supplements. In this case, if you have an elevated blood pressure, first of all, make sure that your doctor knows about it. Then, if you have not done so already, add some fresh garlic to your diet.
Still, just for the record, a recent Australian study has concluded that taking anywhere between 600 to 900 mg of concentrated garlic powder every day helps lower blood pressure by about 5 points.
