Garlic: Anti Cancer Treatment?
Garlic repels more than just women and vampires. A new report from the Medical University of South Carolina states that garlic may help fight off cancer.
When scientists used garlic compounds to treat cancerous human brain cells, the compounds effectively killed off the diseased cells.
In fact, you can consider garlic a stone-cold murderer: The cancer tried to use the garlic compounds as fuel, but those compounds killed the damaged cells from the inside out, according to the study author, Swapan Ray, Ph.D.
“Eating a moderate amount of chopped or whole garlic may protect you from brain cancer,” says Ray, adding that chemicals in garlic may also help protect against other cancers.
Try mincing a few cloves of garlic for your next stir-fry or pasta sauce, but let the garlic sit for at least 15 minutes before adding it. The extra time allows the cancer killers to fully develop. [source: Men's Health]
