Can you lose weight on a fruit diet? Snack foods with added fiber may seem like a diet-friendly choice, but you can lose more weight on a fruit diet. In a new study, women were asked to eat three apples, pears, or oat cookies daily for 10 weeks, but otherwise kept their diet and exercise plans the same.
While each of the snacks provided 200 calories and 6 grams of fiber, those who ate the produce lost 2 pounds, while the cookie eaters gained the same amount. The researchers say the low energy density and high water content of the fruit helped the women feel more satisfied and eat less throughout the day. [source: Shape]
