French Women Don’t Get Fat: Says Who?
The myth of French women don’t get fat seems to be crumbling. The French are not immune to weight gain and obesity.
The French women in particular seem to affected, “ten per cent of women born between 1966 and 1972 are obese, on average 20 years earlier than their mothers’ generation“, according to the new study.
The study concluded that obesity and income levels are related – poor people are more likely to be overweight. This finding seems to be consistent with American studies, which came to the same conclusion, so I do not find it surprising.
However, according to this source, large pharmaceutical company Roche sponsored this study. Roche makes Xenical and other weight loss drugs. Hmm…
Because the study concluded – that obesity is linked to income – very popular book French Women Don’t Get Fat, was renamed to “Those French Women Who Don’t Get Fat”, according to the same article.
