Free for All Fixing School Food in America

Free for All: Fixing School Food in America by Janet Poppendieck.

Free for All explains why so many kids in America today are overweight. Free for All is an excellent book for those who really want to know how and why the decision was made to feed American children what I consider to be junk, which is high in fat and simple carbohydrates. Forget about kids for a second, what do you think is going to happen to adults if they constantly consume pizza, cookies, sugary drinks, fries, nachos and burgers?

Sooner rather than later, they will be unhealthy and overweight. It is hardly surprising, then, that the same diet is making kids obese. Free for All does not only provide a comprehensive assessment of America’s school food, it makes a number of very useful suggestions on how to change the present system for the better. In short, Free for All is a must-read for parents and anybody who cares about the health of kids.
