Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, and UFC

Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, and UFCI decided to scrap the news roundup today in favor of bringing to your attention something arguably more interesting – i.e., Floyd Mayweather Jr. (a.k.a. “Pretty Boy”) trash-talking the greatest thing since sliced bread – the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

“UFC ain’t s—,” Mayweather said. “It ain’t but a fad. … These are guys who couldn’t make it in boxing. So they do [mixed martial arts]. Boxing is the best sport in the world and it’s here to stay.”

Is this guy for real or is he just fishing to create a sh*t storm of controversy before his fight with Oscar De La Hoya, who incidentally respects UFC?

Either way, Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather Jr. is still a bout to watch. But Pretty Boy should settle this like a real man would, don’t you think? After all, the talk is cheap.

Almost every week I hear guys at the gym trash-talking Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, you name it, but they can’t even bench press their own bodyweight. I think Mayweather Jr. should stop acting like a little, well, you know…and step up to the plate.

If UFC is nothing but a fad, he has nothing to lose, right? Come on Pretty Boy, show us what’ve got!

Speaking of UFC, if you’re looking to “charge your batteries” with the proper amount of adrenaline – which should help you get through a typical Monday – this is the video to watch. Happy charging!

Boxing and UFC have totally different rules and fighting systems. Personally, I think UFC is a more rounded realistic fighting style however, college style wrestling will never be a big attraction. It seems most people prefer a stand-up, easy to see fight rather than a on the deck slow moving, even though more realistic, combat

Boxing is great. I love it. But it’s not as demanding as UFC. It has a pretty limited application and a higher injury rate. UFC is all-inclusive, which is why special ops guys train in MMA rather than boxing. I think boxing is mostly a show sport. I would love to see Mayweather Jr. in the octagon thought.
