Fergie: Weight Loss
“I’m not stick skinny,” says Fergie. “But I do want to take care of myself and make sure I’m healthy.”
Over the past two years, Fergie’s done exactly that – and in the process she’s redefined her 5-foot-4 frame. “I have food delivered from Diet Designs,” she says.
She started with a lower-calorie diet (about 1,200 a day), lost roughly 20 pounds, according to celebrity trainer Jim Ryno, and now eats 1,600 calories a day to maintain her weight.
How Fergie lost weight Fergie’s nutritionist, Carrie Wiatt, creator of Hollywood fave Diet Designs, says the Black Eyed Peas babe is in amazing shape. She owes it all to a personalized diet that uses foods’ biochemical power to burn calories and rev up the metabolism.
When she’s home in LA, Fergie has Wiatt’s customized low-fat, low-carb meals – three main courses, soups and snacks- delivered to her door. But now that she’s on tour with the Peas, it’s tempting to indulge. (Pizza and other high-fat foods are her weaknesses.)
So Wiatt has given Fergie a few guidelines: pure food, nothing processed, portion control and organic when possible. Carbs should always be wholegrains.
And she reminds Fergie to graze every three hours on healthy snacks (like Kashi TLC bars, fresh fruit and cheese, green veggies and almonds) to keep her blood-sugar levels steady and prevent bingeing. “Food burns at a higher rate when you eat every couple of hours,” says Wiatt.
Body benefits aside, Fergie says she feels liberated by her regimen – and it’s obviously working wonders. “I’ve grown into loving who I am,” she recently said. “Even though there are always things you want to change, I still feel good about myself because I know I’m doing everything in my power to be healthy.” [via]
