DJ Caffeine, NADH as a Caffeine Alternative?

DJ Caffeine NADH Caffeine AlternativeIs there a real alternative to caffeine? I think DJ Caffeine could be a decent caffeine substitute. In fact, when I need a little energy boost to get through my workout, DJ Caffeine gets me going in no time. But what can you do if DJ Caffeine, well, is not your cup of coffee?

For the past week, I have been experimenting with Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NADH) supplement – a non-stimulant energizer. It is marketed as a caffeine alternative or a natural energizer – minus the caffeine jitters.

NADH is a form of B-vitamin niacin, specifically formulated to resist stomach acid, which enables better absorption. It plays one of the central roles in energy production at the cellular level.

A number of factors, such as a poor diet and stress, could reduce the amount of NADH needed for the cells to function optimally. The theory goes that NADH enters “fatigued” cells and by doing so, helps restore cellular energy.

Natrol and other manufactures provide some studies, which supposedly prove NADH’s effectiveness at giving you caffeine-like energy boost. In my opinion, it seems too early to tell if they are conclusive.

My personal experience with NADH has been interesting. For the past week, I did not drink any coffee. Instead, I took 20 mg of NADH a day. I cannot say it replaces a double espresso for me, yet I felt energized for about 3 hours.

Before taking any supplements, always consult with your physician.
