Dieting Tips for Weight Loss: Pop-Tarts?
Dieting tips for weight loss, if you stack them up, they could probably reach the Moon. I think it is a good thing, because dieting and weight loss are not rocket science.
There is a lot of scientific research behind both subjects – but dieting and weight loss seem to be more of an art form – what works for one person may not work for the other. Thus, it seems only natural to seek dieting and weight loss tips from other people.
While dieting, the possibilities for potential obstacles seem almost limitless. Arguably, the most feared is a weigh loss plateau. It could happen for many reasons; one of them is what is called “the starvation response”.
When you eat less, you burn fewer calories, because your metabolism slows down.
According to the August issue of Flex magazine, “the body downgrades its calorie-burning potential by dropping its levels of metabolic-boosting hormones…”
Obviously, since you are interested in weight loss, this would not be something you want. But there is one trick that could help restart you metabolism.
According to Flex, one way to deal with it “is to include a day of jacking up another hormone – insulin – by eating plenty of fast-digesting carbohydrates“.
To accomplish this, they recommend eating Pop-Tarts, bagels, fat-free muffins, and Cream of Rice cereal mixed with jam. The theory goes that by introducing simple carbs to raise your insulin – you can trick your body into believing that the “starvation” is over.
“When you return to a caloric deficit by eating less, you do so with a better metabolism, one in which hormones that support fat burning are no longer suppressed“, promises Flex.
Pop-Tarts for weight loss! Now we are talking business. Who is not going to try this? Yes, this technique is controversial, but it does work, for some people. However, I would advice some caution.
If you were to do something like this, I recommend that you do it on your scheduled cheat day. In addition, I would still eat some lean protein, at least a third of what you suppose to eat on your regular day.
If you are “crazy” enough to give up Pop-Tarts, you can substitute them with a quality post-workout drink. These drinks are designed to spike your insulin, but they also contain some protein.
