Depression Nutrition: Food to Fight Depression
Mood Food A plate of salmon at dinner could help cheer you up — and not just because it’s tasty.
A University of Pittsburgh study shows that increasing intake of foods rich with omega-3 fatly acids, including salmon, can lead to a sunnier disposition, while people with a lower intake were apt to have a more critical outlook on life.
In the study, 55 healthy adults were quizzed on their daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids, while MR I scans followed the activity in the areas of the brain related to emotion.
The findings show that omega-3s may contribute to structural improvement in the brain, though further tests are required to see if fish actually causes the change. [source: Your Health]
