Denise Richards 2008 Workout

Denise Richards 2008 WorkoutContinued from Denise Richards Workout.

Denise Richards has a history of back and neck pain (which is no surprise, what with two young children to chase after and plenty of stress over the last two years), but she’s finally found a workout that strengthens her body to help prevent those aches.

“Pilates is the only exercise that doesn’t aggravate my back,” says Denise (who also gets physical therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic treatments).

So she equipped a room in her house with a Reformer, a machine you can use to do more than 100 exercises, and hired Maricar Pratt, owner of Better Body Pilates, to give her private lessons. “Denise wanted to strengthen her core to help keep her back strong, but she also wanted to sculpt her entire body,” says Pratt.

The plan worked – and how. “I went down a whole jeans size without changing my diet!” says Richards. Not everyone has access to a Reformer, the basic Pilates exercises can be performed with the machine.

They work your core, making you stronger and less prone to injury, and stretch out tense muscles. And of course, there’s the firm-abs thing: “Pilates was the only workout that made my belly flat again after having two kids,” says Richards. “I just love it.” [via]
