Daniel Craig on Diet and Workout

Taking over one of the most beloved characters of all time, Daniel Craig knew he had a big tuxedo coat to fill. After all, the original James Bond, Sean Connery, competed in the 1953 Mr. Universe contest.

What’s more, beginning with a remake of Casino Royale, the producers wanted to revitalize the Bond franchise with a darker, more violent and realistic take on the British secret agent, relying less on gadgets and more on muscle.

Thirty-eight-year-old Craig told The News of the World: “I wanted to look like Bond could kill somebody. I’m not trying to be extra tough, but I wanted to look physically big. I got a personal trainer.

I wanted to bulk up quickly so I did a lot of weights and had a high-protein diet.” We trust the new 007’s protein drinks were shaken, not stirred. [source: Flex]
