Corn Resin Bottle: Solar Water Bottle

Corn Resin Bottle: Solar Water Bottle

Thirsty for environmentally friendly design, manufactures are dreaming up new ways to change how we use drinking water bottles.

Corn Resin Bottle Colorado-based New Wave Enviro Products built a water filter right into its 16.9-ounce water bottle so that you can refill it with tap water. The filter, which removes chlorine and other organic contaminants, can be reused up to 90 times.

The bottle itself is made from a resin derived from domestically grown corn and will degrade in about 80 days in a commercial compost.

Solar Water Bottle Harnessing the power of the sun is nothing new, but the award-winning Solar Bottle prototype by designers Alberto Meda and Francisco Gomez Paz raises the age-old concept of solar energy to new heights.

Created primarily to provide safe drinking water for much of the developing world, the Solar Bottle utilizes the heat of the sun and naturally occurring UVA radiation to destroy waterborne pathogens. [source: Bon Appetit]
