Cellulite and Weight Loss Are Not Friends

Cellulite and Weight Loss Are Not FriendsShhh… Contrary to findings reported in Lose Weight, Lose Cellulite, another study found that weight loss might not help get rid of cellulite.

According to a study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, cellulite may become worse in some women after weight loss. In this study, slimmer women who did not need to lose a lot of weight ended up with worse cellulite.

In total, 17 women showed improvement in the appearance of cellulite and nine found their cellulite worsened. Women whose cellulite became worse had a lower BMI at the start of the study and lost a smaller portion of their fat, and their skin became much looser after losing weight.

Though heavier women did show a reduction in cellulite, these findings suggest the appearance of cellulite may increase in thinner women who lose weight.
