BOSU Ball

BOSU BallYou may be wondering what that dome-shaped device floating around your gym is used for.

Well, it goes by the name of BOSU ball or just BOSU (short for “both sides up”), and the more appropriate question is probably, what isn’t it used for?

Much like the stability ball, the BOSU was designed to train your balance. But while the round shape of the stability ball makes it difficult to use with some exercises, the BOSU also has a flat side, making it much more versatile.

It can be used with either the dome or the flat side facing up (hence the acronym), and for exercises targeting almost any bodypart.

The BOSU can even be used for sports-specific movements. In fact, many professional athletes incorporate it into their regular training regimens to improve agility and coordination.

And for cardiovascular fitness, the BOSU also provides viable options. Intersperse running and jumping drills atop either side between sets of other exercises, and you’ve got yourself a killer workout geared toward burning calories and increasing stability, strength and endurance.

Whether you prefer training with dumbbells, barbells or your own bodyweight, the BOSU provides a unique way of taking your workouts to a new, exciting level. [source: Best Body]
