A Legal Muscle Builder: Acid
Teach a man to fish and he just may build muscle for days. A new study in the Journal of Physiology found that cows given omega-3 fatty acids (both EPA and DHA) from fish oil experienced a 13 percent increase in their ability to build muscle.
“Fatty acids activate proteins that may lead to increased muscle mass, possibly in humans, too,” says Chad Kerksick, Ph.D., a researcher who reviewed the study.
However, it’s unclear what amount of omega-3s a man would have to digest to achieve the benefit. Further testing is under way. [source: Men's Health]
