A Healthier Egg
The best diet changes are gradual ones that can lighten your menu without sacrificing great taste. This is why I love Eggland’s Best eggs.
In fact, American Culinary Chefs Best – an independent chef-based organization that uses sensory science to taste and analyze consumer food products – crowned Eggland’s Best as “Best Tasting Egg” – for the fourth year in a row!
Of course, something like taste is a subjective measure. Nutrition, on another hand, is “blind” to taste, which is why I would like to turn your attention to numbers. All-natural Eggland’s Best eggs have superior nutrition compared to ordinary eggs, they provide:
- 10 times more vitamin E
- 3 times more omega 3 (100mg)
- 25% less saturated fat
- 16% less cholesterol [180mg (60% DV) vs. 215 mg (71% DV)]
- 185mg of lutein
Omega 3 is essential to the human body and is known as “good” fat. Studies show it plays an important role in reducing hypertension, depression, memory problems, heart disease, eczema and allergies.
Lutein is an antioxidant that benefits cardiovascular health and may reduce the risk skin and breast cancer, age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
While Eggland’s Best might be the best tasting brand, other brands are even more nutritious. Crack A Smile Eggs, for example, provide 350 mg of Omega 3 and 350 mcg of Lutein.
If you are not getting enough vitamins from your regular diet, Egg Beaters might be a good alternative to regular eggs. They are made with 99% real eggs – the whites – with added vitamins A, B-12, D and E, minerals and nutrients.
I would not say Egg Beaters are healthier than shelled eggs, but if you are watching calories, they have less than half the calories of shelled eggs without any fat or cholesterol.
