7 Principles of Fat Burning

Sometimes well-intentioned books fall a little short of expectations. Here is why:

The 7 Principles of Fat Burning The 7 Principles of Fat Burning is supposed to be a new take on how to lose weight by “working smarter, not harder.” Eric Berg, DC, a chiropractor specializing in nutritional research and weight loss, highlights seven important principles to understanding how fat hormones work within the body and interact with the food you eat.

These principles focus on how to strengthen the body’s ability to turn fat into energy, including an exercise plan to efficiently burn calories.

The bottom line: A chiropractor specializes in weight loss? Why? I do not know about you, but I do not see a connection between cracking joints and weight loss. And don’t you need to be an endocrinologist to understand how hormones work?

The Vitamin D Cure James Dowd, MD, has transformed his years of clinical experience into an easy-to-read guide to improve your life. The Vitamin D Cure includes five steps to heal pain and improve your mood; methods to prevent diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis; and advice on how to use supplements and diet to improve your health.

Along with clear explanations of medical terms, this book serves up recipes for diet success, such as Curry Chicken with Nut Sauce and a tasty fruit and vegetable smoothie.

The bottom line: Do we need yet another book about supplements and diet recipes? Here is what you need to know about vitamin D. It is awesome! Spend about 15 minutes in the sun and you will get all the vitamin D you need. [source: Taste for Life]

  1. Michael Smits Says:

While "cracking bones" is not necessarily germane to weight loss, Dr. Berg's experience with thousands of patients and a decade of nutritional research has produced a program that effectively undercuts many of the problems that dieters have. The 7 Principles of Fat Burning addresses the hormonal weakness that prevent fat burning, while causing fat to be stored in distinctive patterns (depending on the weak hormone). Without the ability to burn fat, there is little hope for any diet except the temporary effects of uncomfortable calorie reduction. Dr. Berg's program actually get's you healthy enough to lose weight. One of the virtues of this book is that it does make hormones and the body's fat burning physiology easy to understand with lots of illustrations and an easy-to-understand glossary. I've used it with great results.
