Women Consume More CaloriesDo women these days exercise more than they did 36 years ago? Probably not, I don’t know, I think it’s debatable, but here is an interesting fact.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, women in the U.S. consume over 300 more calories per day that they did in 1971.

The report doesn’t mention whether or not men consume more calories today than they did more than 30 years ago, but of course, they do. (more…)

Here are two more healthy recipes you might want to try.

Vegetable Stew

Yield: 4 servings
-1 cup brown rice
-2 cups water
-½ teaspoon salt
-1 tablespoon canola oil
-2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-1 large red bell pepper, chopped
-1 medium onion, chopped
-1½ cups chopped carrots
-4 garlic cloves, minced
-3 cups fat-free, salt-free vegetable broth
-1 tablespoon dried thyme
-1 teaspoon paprika
-¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
-1 package frozen okra, thawed (about 2 cups)

In a saucepan, combine the rice, water, and ¼ teaspoon of the salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 45 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl. (more…)
